A VERY WARM WELCOME to this site.

This website is part of an on-line forum looking at the theory and practice of Action Research. It has been developed as part of my PhD project and includes streaming media and videoconference facilities, as well as an e-mail discussion list and message posting board. As the project evolves so will this site. If you wish to have  your website linked to this one, you are most welcome. Please mail me with your details.

As an Action Researcher, you may often feel that you are alone and struggling with huge problems. The various communication media within this forum enable you to network with individuals and groups and create links about the issues you are facing. I hope  you will find that no matter what area of your work and practice you are researching, many of us as teachers, researchers and students face the same issues. YOU ARE NOT ALONE .

Some basic guidelines as to how you use this forum.

All topics which are being researched by any individual can be posted on the message board or via the e-mail discussion list. Debate is encouraged, even heated debate! Please remember that it is healthy to have differing ideas and opinions. Always be respectful to other members of this forum. No abusive use of language or insults are allowed. No adult material can be posted to this list accept when relevant to an area of research, such content must be clearly labeled as having adult themes. I know from my own reading that certain philosophies are challenging to my own beliefs and values system, in some cases shocking, but this does not mean that they are any less worthy of debate and presentation. This forum is an open one, by this any creed, race, age, religion or sexual orientation  are invited to share their views in the spirit of communication and tolerance. Any posting that cause offense will be offered the chance to defend their position. If found to be unsupportable, the individual will be removed from this forum. I feel however, that we need to be challenged and if we do not like a subject and wish not to engage, then free use of the delete button is recommended!

References.

Where ever possible, please reference your work and sources. Feel free to contribute data, links, ideas, questions and papers for peer review, feedback.

Virus Checks.

This site is virus checked, however please ensure that you carry out your own virus checks for any downloaded files  or papers. No responsibility can be accepted for virus infected files. It is a personal responsibility.

At this point I wish to offer a big thank you to my supervisor at Bath University, Dr Jack Whitehead, Department of Education, whose mentorship has stimulated the development of this forum. Jack's website can be found here.  I highly recommend it as a place where you will find a rich resource of cutting edge action research debates, papers, PhD's, MA's and international contacts. Enjoy!. Thank you also to my friend and fellow Buddhist, Chairman of GroupInterVisual (the company who jointly developed and host this site), Ben Davidson. Please report any broken or dead links to either myself or Ben.

In keeping with the new innovations in technology and looking at forms of representing knowledge and claims to know, the links above left will take you to a Videoconference Community page for the exclusive use of this forum. All you need is a webcam and mike, all other software is downloadable and free for forum members. You will need to register with GroupInterVisual, a simple procedure and  cost free. Full instructions can be found on clicking the 'Videoconference Community' link. A picture speaks a thousand words, but as well as seeing each other there, you can use file transfer, chat and shared whiteboard tools, making this part of the site an essential research tool. If you are having any unexpected problems videoconferencing, click this link for detailed instructions.

You may also join an academic e-mail discussion list by clicking on the 'Academic List' button above.

Feel free to e-mail me direct - I'll be pleased to hear from you, and do take a moment to post a message on my message board/guestbook.
